February: Black & White Prints by Eric Schoondergang

Key elements in black & white images will be discussed as they apply to some example prints. Pre-visualization and retouching techniques will also be discussed. Finally, Eric will present some tips to help get the print to look (approximately) the way the photographer had hoped without going crazy.

Formally educated in Photographic Technology at what is now Lone Star College – Kingwood, Eric spent a few years in Houston working as a photo lab technician, computer graphic artist and photographer before returning to college to earn a Master’s degree in Finance. In 2003, he joined his wife, Lynn, who owns Ruby, a retailer of women’s accessories in Fort Worth. Among his job duties with Ruby are small product photography and marketing graphics for both print and digital output. Eric and Lynn enjoy reading, Fort Worth’s art scene, producing their own visual art and sharing people food with their dogs Juanita, Feller, Joy and Izzy-Belle.

Grand Canyon Photography Raft Trip

May 5-16, 2012

David Wille of the Plano Photography Club is organizing a Grand Canyon photography rafting trip. The trip goes from Lee’s Ferry to Lake Mead and stops at the most photogenic locations within the Canyon. Each day typically involves some hiking. Because the trip is a photography trip, we have some ability to remain in certain locations for the best light. While this is not always possible, the guides do their best to accommodate the wishes of the photographers. If you are interested, please contact David at david.wille@bakerbotts.com. The cost is $2700 per person, which includes a tent, sleeping pad, food, etc.

Texas Northern Model Railroad Club photo opportunity

By appointment.

PPC member Charles Brown and the Texas Northern Model Railroad Club (TNMRC) have graciously extended an opportunity for PPC members to photograph one of the largest HO scale model railroads in North Texas. While not a PPC "event" per se, Charles is happy to open the TNMRC’s layout to individual photographers while he is on site (typically Tuesday and Thursday nights as well as weekends). All that TNMRC asks in return is that photographers share some of their better shots with the club (coordinate with Charles).

TNMRC is located at 3515 B Forney Ave, Mesquite, TX 75149, just off US 80 and Town East Blvd (10 miles east of downtown Dallas). Click here to see a map. Additional information on the trains and layout can be found on the TNMRC’s website.
